Jonathan and Christmas

Jonathan's life is a foretaste of what Christmas should be all about. Jonathan is someone born for greatness who is very willing to step down from the position that was his by birth and play a supporting role for David – God’s chosen king.

Jesus was more than a king, "being in very nature God" (Phil. 2:6), and yet He became a servant in order to serve humanity. Beginning with the stable in Bethlehem and moving to the carpenter's hut in Nazareth, the divine master plan for Jesus included no royal palaces and red carpets. Instead, Jesus mingled with pushy and smelly crowds, touching the unclean and serving the undeserving.
