Ingredients
1 cup millet
1 cup quinoa
4 cups of water
Salt to taste
Chia seeds (soak 1-2 tablespoons in 2 tablespoons water and allow to stand for 30 minutes).
Dates or Figs to sweeten (optional)
Directions:
Bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Salt to taste (about ½ - 1 tsp.). Since millet will take longer to cook, add it first to the water. Allow to return to a boil before reducing heat to a simmer and covering the pot. Add the quinoa after about 10 minutes and cook until all the liquid is absorbed by the grains, about another 10 minutes. Keep covered and allow to stand about 5 minutes. Fluff grains with a fork.
If using left over whole grains, place into saucepan with milk to desired consistency and bring to a gentle simmer.
Spoon into cereal bowl and top with milk, seasonal fruit, soaked seeds, and dried dates and or banana to sweeten.
